Catherine Long

FRANKLIN

Catherine I. Long, 90, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014, at the Franklin United Methodist Community in Franklin. She was a resident of Franklin and a former resident of Lawrence.

She was born Aug. 17, 1924, in Indianapolis to George L. Rutledge and Grace (Godsey) Rutledge. She married Orville L. Long on Dec. 22, 1939. He preceded her in passing Jan. 21, 1998.

She is survived by a son, Leon (Judy) Long of Franklin; a daughter, Carolyn J. Inman, of Indianapolis; two grandchildren, Mark (Gretchen) Long of Greenwood and Deborah (Ray) Gardner, Ashburn, Virginia; and two great-grandchildren, Taylor Sheperd and Morgan Long.

She was preceded in passing by her parents; her husband, Orville; and three brothers, Earl Rutledge, Roy Rutledge and Pete Rutledge.

She worked at the Lawrence Central High School cafeteria for 30 years.

Catherine enjoyed camping, fishing and working in her yard and flower beds, and she loved to crochet.

She loved her dogs Gidget and Heidi.

The Rev. David Lee will conduct a celebration of Catherine’s life at 1 p.m. Saturday at Franklin United Methodist Community Wright Chapel, 1070 W. Jefferson St., Franklin. Calling will be from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the chapel. Burial will be at Floral Park Cemetery in Indianapolis.
