Donald Lee Skaggs

Donald Lee Skaggs, 75, passed away Monday, Nov. 24, 2014, in Greenwood. He was a resident of Franklin.

Don was born Dec. 21, 1938, in Beech Grove to father, James, and mother, Lucille.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

He married Janet Stone on July 31, 1960; they were married for 54 years.

Don was employed as a bus driver for Center Grove Community School Corp. for 25 years and owned Skaggs Dump Truck service for 20 years; retiring in 1997.

Don and his wife, Janet, operated a fruit and vegetable business on State Road 135 for 20 years.

Don was a member of Southport Masonic Lodge.

He enjoyed fishing and traveling. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a loving, husband, father and grandfather.

He put up a strong fight during his illness at Aspen Trace in Greenwood.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Skaggs of Franklin; daughter, Tammy (Jeff) Etter of Franklin; and two grandchildren, Tyler Mason and Samantha Etter.

He was preceded in death by his father, James H. Skaggs; mother, Lucille (Ward) Ruark; and a brother, James K. Skaggs.

A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.

Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel, is handling arrangements.
