the season

Despite the decorations in the stores, the music on the radio and wintry blast outside, today traditionally marks the start of the holiday season.

Local choirs will put on mesmerizing performances of holidays classics such as “Silent Night” and “Here Comes Santa Claus (Down Santa Claus Lane).”

It’s time for “The Nutcracker” ballet and Handel’s “Messiah,” for Tiny Tim, Bob Cratchit and Ebeneezer Scrooge in “A Christmas Carol.”

Lovers of the holiday season look forward to the music, dance, theater and art all year long.
