Southbound I-65 patching today to bring delays

Workers will begin patching southbound Interstate 65 between Whiteland and Franklin today, and officials are recommending motorists use another route.

One lane will be open on southbound I-65 for that five-mile stretch, according to a news release from the Indiana Department of Transportation.

Workers will be milling and patching the highway. The work, which was postponed on Tuesday due to cold and ice, is scheduled to last from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Southbound motorists should expect very long delays, and should consider using U.S. 31 instead, the news release said. Northbound traffic should be unaffected.

The project is being done before widening that section of I-65, which is set to begin next year.
