Major Ferguson

FRANKLIN

Major Thomas Ferguson, 67, passed away on Friday, Jan. 2, 2015, at his residence in Franklin.

He was born on Dec. 4, 1947, in Indianapolis to Harold and Mildred (McMullin) Ferguson.

Major married Deborah Anne (Roush) Ferguson on Dec. 20, 1969. She lovingly survives in Franklin. He is also survived by one daughter, Jami Anne Stout of Franklin; grandson, Major Franklin Hall of Franklin; two brothers, Robert Ferguson of Clearwater, Florida, and Harold Lee Ferguson of Indianapolis and three sisters, Pam Ferguson, Diana Atwell and Brenda Sanders, all of Indianapolis.

He was preceded in passing by his parents, one sister and four brothers.

Major was a graduate of Warren Central High School. After graduating, he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from August 1967 to August 1969.

He began working in 1970 at Grimmer-Schmidt Corp. in Franklin, holding various positions. Major retired as purchasing manager in June 2002 after 31 years of service.

Major attended Grace United Methodist Church. He served on the Franklin City Council for four years. He was a member of the Franklin American Legion Post No. 205 and a member of the National Rifle Association.

Pastor Andy Kinsey will conduct a service at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton St. (U.S. 31 North), in Franklin. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
