GREENWOOD
Gary M. Sanders, 69, passed away Jan. 5, 2015, in Truskavets, Ukraine. He was a resident of Greenwood.
Gary was born Feb. 13, 1945, in Sonora, Kentucky to Sherman and Dora (Sharp) Sanders.
He was a decorated U.S. Air Force veteran.
He was employed with Walmart for 10 years, working at the paint counter.
Survivors include two children, Gary Sanders Jr. of Boggstown and Laura M. Sanders of Greenwood; three sisters, Peggy Sanders and Sandy (Paul) Fisher-Keller, both of Greenwood, and Barbara (Nick) Guy of Fairland; a brother, Jeff (Jenise) Sanders of Indianapolis; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Patricia Reed.
A memorial service will be conducted at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at New Whiteland Baptist Church, 520 Sawmill Road, New Whiteland. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until service time Saturday at the church. A music festival in his honor will follow the service from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gary Sanders Memorial Fund in care of New Whiteland Baptist Church, 520 Sawmill Road, New Whiteland, IN 46184.
