Local libraries accepting prom dress donations

Teenagers can give their prom attire a second life by donating them.

All branches of the Johnson County Public Library are accepting donated prom dresses and tuxes year round.

Glam Designer Resale, 1001 N. State Road 135, Greenwood, also is accepting formal attire donations.

A $75 discount toward this year’s dress will be applied to donations dropped off at Sophia’s Bridal Tux & Prom, 7015 U.S. 31 South, Indianapolis. Donations can be dropped off between Feb. 28 and March 13 at Sophia’s.

Our Lady schedules open house for families

A local private school will have an open house Thursday.

Prospective families can tour Our Lady of the Greenwood from 6 to 7 p.m. The school is at 399 S. Meridian St.

Center Grove students can apply for scholarship

The Center Grove area Zeta Lambda Chapter of Tri Kappa service sorority will award $1,000 scholarships to two Center Grove High School seniors.

For more information and applications, students should visit Center Grove’s scholarship website or contact their high school counselors.

Completed applications need to be submitted to the high school guidance office by April 13.

Roncalli group gets grant to help feed the hungry

A group of Roncalli High School students have received a grant that will help them feed the hungry.

The Roncalli High School ethnic food club received a Youth as Resources project grant from the United Way of Central Indiana.

Juniors Mark Jones, Alexander Pollard, Michael Saling and Andrew York submitted a three-page grant proposal that included a budget plan for their project and presented their proposal to the United Way Board.

The $1,270 grant will help the group serve dinner at the Lord’s Pantry six times this year.

Roncalli announces students of the month

Roncalli High School has announced their November students of the month.

They are:

Joe Below, social studies; Michael McClellan, fine arts; Sophie Daniel, math; Joe Gervasio, industrial technology; Justin Brown, guidance; Chloe Owen, religious studies; Elizabeth Woodruff, science; Scout Leffler, English; Alexandra Lawson, world languages; Lucy Furiak, family and consumer science; Bridget Bard, business and technology; Grace Tatarek, S.T.A.R.S. program; and Kayleigh Winter, health and physical education.

$1,000 REMC scholarships available to local students

Johnson County REMC is offering two $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors planning to attend an Indiana college or university.

To be eligible, a recipient’s parent or guardian must be an REMC member.

Applications are available from a high school guidance counselor; at the REMC office, 750 International Drive, Franklin; and on the agency’s website, jcremc.com.

Application deadline is Saturday.

Frozen yogurt sales to help school PTO

Maple Grove Elementary School’s PTO will participate in the annual Ella’s Frozen Yogurt Dine to Donate Battle of the Groves Elementary Competition.

Maple Grove’s dine-to-donate day is Feb. 11. A portion of sales from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Greenwood store will go to the school’s PTO.

Ella’s Frozen Yogurt is at 520 N. State Road 135, Greenwood.
