Greenwood hires social media consultants

Share this: Greenwood is getting some help with how it posts to social media.

The city is hiring Indianapolis-based KSM Consulting to help review what Greenwood is already doing with social media outlets, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest, and will help set up a program aimed at reaching more people. The city is paying $2,125.

Greenwood already has several social media accounts for parks, police and fire departments, as well as the city government account. The consultants will help identify the city’s target audience, increase exposure across all the accounts and improve the city’s online brand, parks superintendent Rob Taggart said.

KSM Consulting will help set up a social media program that city departments can follow on when and what to post and how often. The consultants also will show ways to connect the city’s different accounts to reach a larger overall audience, Taggart said.

Greenwood currently has a small committee of city employees that discusses how the city uses social media, but wants to bring in some professionals for advice.

“Right now, we’re kind of putting everything together. We’re doing a good job, but we’re learning as we go,” Taggart said.
