Everything’s coming up roses

The Johnson County Garden Club and Purdue Master Gardeners’ 11th annual Johnson County Garden Celebration is set for Saturday at the Johnson County fairgrounds in Franklin.

You can buy plants and garden equipment and hear several seminars on various gardening topics, including the following:

9:30 a.m.: “All About Rosa Rogusa” by Linda Kimmel of the Indianapolis Rose Society.

10:30 a.m.: “Vegetables and the Home Gardener” by Jim Barbour, JMB Consulting

12:30 p.m.: “Fresh Vegetables and Products at Your Local Farmers Markets” by Sarah Mullin of Growing Places Indy

1:30 p.m. “Growing Cut Flowers for Pleasure and Profit” by Steve Mayer, Purdue Extension, Marion County

2:30 p.m.: “Ask an Arborist”

In addition, Purdue Master Gardeners will be available all day to answer gardening questions and offer advice about plants and landscaping.

Dozens of vendors will sell plants and garden items, and nonprofit organizations such as the Indiana Native Plant and Wildflower Society and Soil and Water Conservation Service will have information to pass out.

Activities will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Scott Hall, 250 Fairground St. in Franklin.

Trees will be given away through out the day, and there will be food and drink available for purchase.

Admission is $2.
