Eleanor Jean Denk

EDINBURGH

Eleanor Jean Denk, 91, of Edinburgh, passed away Monday, June 22, 2015, at Morristown Manor in Morristown.

She was born Dec. 20, 1923, in Columbus. She was the daughter of William “Fred” and Edith (Wirey) Taulman.

She married Raymond F. “Rudy” Denk on July 6, 1946; and he preceded her in death on Aug. 5, 1994.

She is survived by sons, Stephen F. Denk of Prince’s Lakes, James R. Denk of Franklin and David R. (Christy) Denk of Shelbyville; a daughter-in-law, Lury Denk of Franklin; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Raymond Thomas Denk and William J. Denk; a half brother, Dale Stitswart; and a half sister, Beulah Denk.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church of Edinburgh.

She served on the Edinburgh Wright-Hageman Public Library board for many years, serving as president for several of those years. She did a lot of work for the genealogy department at the library.

She was a member of Tri-Kappa and Beta Sigma Phi International.

She retired from Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home, where she was employed as a secretary.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and researching genealogy.

A graveside service will be conducted at 8 a.m. Saturday by Deacon Mike Slinger at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home, 302 E. Main Cross St. in Edinburgh.
