Do you know this man? Let police know

Police are looking for a man caught on surveillance video inside a Franklin business that was broken into last month.

Just after 6:30 a.m. July 14, an employee of Beck’s Muffler off U.S. 31 found a window had been removed from a garage door at the business. Police found four windows had been tampered with at the business, located at 3070 S. U.S. 31, according to the police report.

Inside, police found damage to an office door and that a safe and gun safe had been stolen. The thief or thieves stole cash that had been in the safe, and a cash register and a handgun that had been in the gun safe, the report said.

The owner said the alarm had not been set properly the night before and that the burglary was the same as one that had happened about two years ago.

Police collected evidence and also reviewed surveillance footage from inside the business the night of the burglary.

Now, investigators are asking for the public’s help identifying a man shown on that surveillance video. The video shows a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt, a stocking cap with a headlamp, goggles and a scarf, according to a news release from Crime Stoppers.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 262-8477.
