I-65 lane to be closed to install noise barriers

Next week, motorists can expect workers to close a lane on Interstate 65 while noise barriers are constructed on the southside.

Workers will install the barriers along southbound I-65 next week, closing the right lane overnight between Southport Road and Interstate 465, according to a news release from the Indiana Department of Transportation.

The closures are expected every night, between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m., from Monday through Aug. 15, the release said.

Noise barrier walls, which are being installed along both I-465 and I-65 on the southside, are expected to be finished by November.

Some fencing will be removed from properties along the interstate during the work, the release said.
