Dorothy J. Miller

Dorothy J. Miller, 88, died on Friday, Aug. 7, 2015, at her home in Travelers Rest, South Carolina.

Born in South Alabama, New York, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Nellie Ross.

She was a 1945 graduate of Galion High School in Galion, Ohio. She was a long-time resident of Greenwood until fall 2012.

Dorothy and her husband Earl owned their own grocery store, Stop ‘N’ Shop, in Galion, Ohio. For a time, she was employed at the North Electric Co. but was pleased to be a keeper of their home and to rear their four children.

She was a dedicated Christian and active member of Suburban Baptist Church and Grace Bible Church in Indiana and Agnew Road Baptist Church in South Carolina. Dorothy sang in her church choirs for more than 50 years.

She was preceded in death last February by her husband of 67 years, Earl A. Miller.

Survivors include her children, Bruce (Sharon) Miller of Laurel, Delaware, Dianne (Michael) Worrell of Greenwood, Jeff (Debbie) Miller of Travelers Rest, South Carolina; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Barbara Beck of Galion, Ohio.

Also preceding her in death is one son, Reynold Miller; her parents; one sister and one brother.

Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. until the time of service at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Stirling – Gerber Chapel, 5950 E. Thompson Road, Indianapolis. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Mrs. Miller to Atlantic Coast Baptist College, P.O. Box 25, Laurel, DE 19956. The college trains men and women for the ministry.
