Contruction closing street in Greenwood for 3 weeks

Ongoing construction in downtown Greenwood will close a main road Monday.

Meridian Street will close at Pearl Street for three weeks starting Monday, as the city continues a sewer-replacement project under Pearl Street, city engineer Mark Richards said.

The project started on the west end of Pearl Street in May and has gradually moved east as the city replaces the sewer line.

Another portion of the project focuses on storm sewers on Meridian Street between Broadway and Pearl streets. The storm sewer work is being done to eliminate standing water in the intersection of Broadway and Meridian streets, Richards said.

The closure at Meridian and Pearl streets initially was scheduled to last two weeks, but the storm sewer work will add an additional week, Richards said.
