More lane shifts coming to I-65

Motorists driving on Interstate 65 south of Franklin should be prepared for a change this week.

Starting Thursday, one lane of southbound traffic near State Road 44 will be routed to the northbound lanes. One southbound lane will remain open for traffic exiting the interstate, according to a news release from the Indiana Department of Transportation.

Lanes will be narrowed for the two northbound lanes and the shifted southbound lane between State Road 44 and State Road 252, the release said.

Shifting traffic to the other side of the interstate will allow workers to repair and repave the west side of I-65, the release said.

Crews also are doing bridge work over the Blue River, Amity Ditch and Sugar Creek.

The bridge work, repairs and repaving are all part of a $21 million project to make repairs to the interstate between Franklin and Edinburgh.
