Watercolors

elisabeth hinson

Where: Columbus

Style: Floral watercolors, with some portraits and drawings, but mostly watercolors.

simple attraction

“I started with pastels and was talking with an artist, who suggested I try watercolors. I like the fact that they’re cleaner and lightweight — there’s not a lot of mess or cleanup. A lot of people say it’s a very unforgiving medium, but I don’t find it to be.”

becoming an artist

“I’m retired, and I got a late start. It’s been about 15 years that I’ve been painting. I don’t have to make a living at it, so it’s a nice hobby for me.”

family connection

“Art has been in my family for years. My daughter is a potter and went to Ball State to get her degree. It’s something we can talk about now.”
