Robert Estel Stogsdill

INDIANAPOLIS

Robert Estel Stogsdill, 62, of Indianapolis, passed away Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015. He was surrounded by his loving wife and family.

Robert was born March 13, 1953.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Shrock) Stogsdill; and four children, Jenny Holzhausen, Michael Stephens, Sarah Day and Rachael Stogsdill, all of Indianapolis. He also is survived by his mother, Doris (Ashbrooke) Roy of Franklin; sister, Donna (Joey) Gorman of Indianapolis; two brothers, Mike Stogsdill of Franklin and Jerry (Tammy) Stogsdill of Greenwood; and son-in-law, Tim Holzhauzen of Bargersville.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert S. Stogsdill; and two sisters, Carolyn Bolt and Dianne Stogsdill.

Robert was a U.S. Navy corpsman attached to the Marine Corps. He spent time in the Mediterranean during his tours, as well as visiting 32 different countries.

Robert was a skilled, self-taught guitarist. He would play every chance he had. He also enjoyed fishing and golfing.

He especially enjoyed time at the lake with his wife and taking his grandsons fishing.

Robert made a huge impact on many people and will be deeply missed.

A funeral service will be conducted at noon Monday at Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel, 729 U.S. 31 North. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison.
