Christmas concert planned at Franklin

Choirs at Franklin Community High School are getting festive.

A Christmas Spectacular concert will be at 7 p.m. Dec. 3 and 4 at the school, 2600 Cumberland Drive.

Tickets are $6; $4 for students and seniors.

$1,000 scholarships available to students

Johnson County REMC is offering two $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors planning to attend an Indiana college or university. To be eligible, a recipient’s parent or guardian must be REMC members.

Applications are available from a high school guidance counselor; at the REMC office, 750 International Drive, Franklin; and on the agency’s website, jcremc.com.

Application deadline is Jan. 29.

Roncalli teacher receives grant

A Roncalli High School teacher has received a grant that will help him with his classes.

Mark Stratton, visual arts instructor, received a $1,000 grant from The Charles M. Bauervic Foundation.

Stratton applied for the grant over the summer to fund his “Mud Into Clay, Pugging All The Way” project that will be used in the ceramic, sculpture and three dimensional art courses.

School’s coin drive raises money for mission work

A local private school turned coins into a cash cow.

Greenwood Christian Academy’s elementary school students raised $1,400 by collecting coins.

The students collected the money for givehope2kids.org, which is a children’s home on a self-sustaining farm in the mountains of Honduras. The money bought a cow for a farm.
