GREENWOOD
LuAnne Dayment, age 60, of Greenwood, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2016. LuAnne was born July 29, 1955, in Indianapolis to John Wesley and Betty Jean (McKenzie) Michel. She was a graduate of Southport High School with the Class of 1973. She received her BA degree in Education from DePauw University with the Class of 1977. She received her Master’s degree in Library Science from Indiana University in 1995. LuAnne married Richard Dayment on January 8, 1977, in Southport.
LuAnne was a member of Southport United Methodist and she attended New Hope Church where she served as a Youth Camp Counselor. She retired from Greenwood Middle School as a Media Specialist in 2014. She was a member of the DePauw Chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta and recently was working for Johnson County Habitat for Humanity. She was a member and Chairperson for the Young Hoosier Book Award Program. She loved participating in her Euchre Club and Trivia Group with her Greenwood Middle School colleagues. She and Rich traveled extensively in the last year or so visiting family in Colorado, Texas, Connecticut and Florida. She adored spending time with her family and grandchildren, and she will be sorely missed by all of those who know and love her.
LuAnne is survived by her parents, husband, children, and grandchildren: sons, Paul Michel (Rachael) Dayment of Indianapolis, and Charles Weston Dayment of Austin, TX; daughter, Melissa Jean (Ed) Bloom of Morrison CO; brother, John (Cathy) Michel of Greenwood; sister, Cyndi (Rick) Chambers of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Nolan Peter Dayment and Makayla Grace Bloom; several nieces, nephews, and many many friends.
A celebration of life service will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Middle School with Minister Steve Kent officiating. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the service time at the school.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Johnson County Habitat for Humanity in memory of LuAnne.
