Man scammed into purchasing $2,000 worth of iTunes cards

<p>Police say a Center Grove area man was scammed into buying $2,000 worth of iTunes gift cards.</p>
<p>The man received a phone call on Thursday from a man who identified himself as a sergeant and said that his grandson was in jail and in order to make bail he needed to send $2,000 in iTunes gift cards, according to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report.</p>
<p>The resident went to a local store and bought $2,000 worth of gift cards, then called back and provided the person with the gift card information, according to the report.</p>
<p>The person then told the man his grandson would be released. After he provided the caller with the gift card information, the man told a family member about the call, according to the report.</p>
<p>The family member then notified Apple of the incident and called the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office to make a report.</p>
