Woman loses $5,000 in scams

<p>A Center Grove area woman lost more than $5,000 in phone scams, police said.</p>
<p>The woman’s daughter contacted the sheriff’s office, and said her mother had been victim to multiple scams, according to a report from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.</p>
<p>She told deputies that her mother had been writing checks and sending them to people, including one to someone claiming to be a travel agency who said she had won a cruise and another saying they were from the FBI, the report said.</p>
<p>The woman’s bank said the incidents needed to be reported to the police so they could begin a fraud investigation, the report said.</p>
<p>County commissioners needed for town</p>
<p>The Johnson County Board of Commissioners is seeking two representatives to serve on the Bargersville Plan Commission.</p>
<p>Members would serve on the buffer zone committee for Bargersville.</p>
<p>Applicants must live in the unincorporated area within 2 miles of Bargersville town limits.</p>

<p>Golf outing supports cancer screenings</p>
<p>Playing a round of golf can help bring awareness to breast cancer screenings.</p>
<p>A Rally for the Cure will be at 9 a.m. June 27 at Deer Valley Golf Course, 5375 E. County Road 300S., Franklin.</p>
