A new pre-Independence Day festival is set for Friday at Johnson County Park.
The inaugural Sparks in the Park promises to be a fun evening of concerts and fireworks.
The family-friendly evening will feature train rides for $3 from 5 to 7 p.m., live bands from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. and more.
Taxman Brewing Co. and Mallow Run Winery will be on hand to serve beverages.
45RPM’s tunes will open the show at 5:30 p.m., followed by the soulful and dance-worthy style of The Vallures out of Bloomington.
A spectacular fireworks show will close out the evening at dark, with the best seats in the house inside the amphitheater.
Admission is $1 per person. Carry-in and carry-out alcohol is prohibited inside the amphitheatre gates.
