Man hit, robbed in gun sale

A man was hit and robbed during what was supposed to be a meeting to sell a gun.

The robbery happened just before 8 p.m. Monday in a busy business parking lot on King Street on Franklin’s east side while other cars were driving by.

A man parked his vehicle and was waiting to meet the person who was supposed to buy a firearm from him. The sale had been arranged on the internet, according to Franklin police.

While the seller was getting out of his vehicle, the would-be buyer and another person attacked him, hitting him on the head, Franklin police deputy chief Chris Tennell said.

The suspects took the firearm, a second gun the victim had in his vehicle, and the victim’s wallet, police said.

The victim was bleeding but did not want medical treatment, police said.

The incident was captured on camera, and the victim was able to provide the suspect’s license plate number, Tennell said.

Police continue to investigate.
