Windows busted, cars broken into in Franklin

A vehicle was stolen from a downtown street and nine other vehicles across Franklin were broken into, police and residents have discovered.

On Wednesday morning, residents on Taurus Lane, West Street, Oak Leaf Road and Hague Court discovered their vehicles had been rummaged through and in some cases, items taken, according to Franklin police reports.

In two cases, burglars had used a landscaping brick to shatter a window. Wallets, shopping bags, credit cards, IDs and cash were taken, the reports said. In several cases, a police officer taking a report in a neighborhood discovered other cars broken into and alerted the owners. Most of the homes are in the Deer Trails and Cumberland Trails neighborhoods west of U.S. 31.

A resident on Adams Street called police at 11 a.m. Tuesday to report that his 2011 Dodge Charger had been stolen.

Police are investigating.
