<strong>L</strong>ocal home sales were down for the month of June but still on the rise for the year so far.
Last month, 209 homes were sold in Johnson County, a nearly 5 percent decrease from June 2015, according to a report from Indianapolis-based real estate company F.C. Tucker Co.
But so far this year, local home sales are up 9 percent, which is higher than the nearly 5 percent average increase among all central Indiana counties, according to the report.
Johnson County was one of a few central Indiana counties that had a drop in sales last month, compared to the year before. Across central Indiana, home sales increased less than 1 percent.
Real estate officials say homes continue to be in demand, as the number of houses on the market fall and prices increase, according to a news release from F.C. Tucker.
In Johnson County, the number of homes available for sale was down to 679 last month, a nearly 26 percent drop from the same time last year.
And home prices are up significantly.
Across central Indiana, the average sales price was $185,459, a 2 percent increase from last year.
In Johnson County, the average sales price of $187,709 was up 9 percent from last year, the report said.
