Five Things: Back to School bash at Nineveh Christian Church

Families can help get their children excited for school at a back to school bash.

Nineveh Christian Church, 1231 E. County Road 775 S., is hosting a back to school bash from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday.

Jonetta Knight, an organizer, tells you what you need to know about the event.

Who can come?

All ages. Families are welcome.

What activities will the bash include?

We give away free backpacks that have a “School Supply Starter Kit” in them to the first 300 kids. Activities also include: inflatable slide, dunk tank, carnival-type games, free haircuts (on site), drawing for prizes and face painting. We will also have free food for the whole family including hot dogs, chips, sno-cones and drinks.

How did you get the idea?

The Lord laid this on my heart as an outreach to the community. At a previous church, we had an outreach to the community that was similar to the Bash.

How much does it cost?

Free. Our congregation is so generous and supportive of the Bash. We have school supplies donated from our church members. We are always looking for gift cards, gift items, etc. from area businesses to give away for prizes for the kids and for their parents.

Why is this something your church wanted to do?

We wanted to reach out to the community in a practical way because school supplies can be expensive, so we wanted to take some of the burden off of the parents. The reason we give prizes is to help with other needs they may have, such as clothing and shoes.
