<strong>Friendship Baptist Church,</strong> 1600 Westview Drive, Franklin, will serve a pancake breakfast Aug. 13.

Serving will be from 7 to 10:30 a.m. The cost is $5 per person, and includes all you-can-eat pancakes with two sausage links, a glass of milk, juice or coffee.

Additional sausage and glasses of milk or juice can be purchased at an additional fee.

Proceeds will go to youth camp.

<div><strong>Smith Valley Baptist Church,</strong> 4682 W. Smith Valley Road, Greenwood, will be hosting tailgate/homecoming and outdoor worship service <span class="aBn"><span class="aQJ">Aug. 21</span></span>.</div>

<div>The tailgate breakfast will start at <span class="aBn"><span class="aQJ">9 a.m.</span></span>, and the worship service will begin at <span class="aBn"><span class="aQJ">10 a.m.</span></span></div>

<div>Special music will be performed by Victory in the Valley, a gospel music group made up by members of the Smith Valley Baptist Church.</div>

<div>The day also will include an opening of the cornerstone of the church building, to see what the founding members of the church sealed behind the cornerstone.</div>
<strong>Benedict Inn Retreat &amp; Conference Center,</strong> 1402 Southern Ave., Beech Grove, will offer a workshop on integrating compassion into everyday life Aug. 27.

Workshop participants will learn to recognize obstacles preventing them from living a compassionate life and gain skills to make compassionate choices.

The program will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and taught by Vanessa Hurst. The fee is $65 and includes lunch.

<strong>Greenwood Christian Church, </strong><span class="_Xbe">2045 Averitt Road, will host</span> will host a Stephen Ministry Introductory Workshop on Sept. 17.

The program will be 9 a.m. to 1 pm. Registration begins at 8 a.m.

The workshop is designed to help congregations catch a vision for strengthening their ministry through equipping laypeople as caregivers. During this event, participants will also learn caregiving skills.

The cost of this workshop is $15 per person or $50 for a group of four or more from the same congregation.
