Money, credit cards stolen from cars at park

A couple of cars were broken into Thursday afternoon at a Center Grove area park, according to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

Two women had visited Independence Park, located off Morgantown Road near Center Grove High School, about 4:15 p.m. Thursday. When they returned to their vehicles, they saw that the windows had been broken. Two purses, credit cards, debit cards and $150 was reported stolen, the report said.

While they were at the park, the women noticed a gray sport-utility vehicle parked next to their vehicles in a handicap parking spot. The only person who exited the vehicle was a 20- to 30-year-old woman with brunette hair, who did not stay in the park long, the report said.

Investigators are watching for the stolen cards to be used.
