Perry Meridian defeats Warriors

Whiteland lost its match at Perry Meridian on Wednesday, 25-16, 25-6, 25-21. The Warriors were led by Elaina Robards with 11 digs.

Braves win in five games

Indian Creek went the distance against Brown County on Tuesday, pulling out a 25-18, 24-26, 24-26, 25-16, 15-12 victory.

Morgan Hogue provided the Braves with 13 kills, while Taylor Burkett was close behind with 12. Avery Hensley chipped in nine kills of her own in the win.

Burkett also finished with six blocks, Sara Knight had eight service aces and Tori Travers a team-best 32 digs.

Women’s soccer picks up road win

Hat tricks by sophomore Maddie Fleet and freshman Taylor McDaniel propelled the women’s soccer team to a 7-0 victory at Manchester University in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play Wednesday afternoon.

Franklin (11-2, 4-0 HCAC) ran its winning streak to eight matches. The Grizzlies are receiving votes in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Top 25 poll and are ranked third in the Great Lakes region.

Fleet’s goal in the third minute gave the visitors an early lead. Junior Haley Lowe assisted on the scoring opportunity in front of the goal. Franklin took a 2-0 lead in the 16th minute on Fleet’s second goal of the match after receiving a pass from junior Jillian Lawrence.

In the 35th minute, McDaniel found the back of the net on a shot just inside the 18-yard box to give the Grizzlies a 3-0 advantage. Two minutes later, Fleet capped her hat trick with her third tally of the first half.

Volleyball loses at Transylvania

The volleyball team fell to 2-3 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play when it lost in straight sets to Transylvania University (25-16, 25-13, 25-21) on Wednesday.

Juniors Brooke Harvey and Amanda Lelivelt each registered five kills to lead the team’s offensive attack. Freshman Jenna Spini added four kills in the match.
