Teen arrested after hit and run

A Johnson County teenager was arrested Sunday after a hit and run crash that damaged a mobile home in Greenwood.

The 17-year-old driver crashed into the mobile home about 8:15 a.m., damaging an air conditioner, before leaving the scene, a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report said.

The owner of the home told officers that the crash woke her up and knocked pictures and other items off of the wall. She followed a trail of fluid and found the driver and his car in a nearby lot, the report said.

The teen initially denied being the driver, but later told officers that another vehicle had come around a turn at 70 mph and had forced him off the road. He was arrested for fleeing the scene of a property-damage accident, the report said.

The teen was later released to his parents.
