Sylvester L. “Lee” Snedaker

Sylvester L. “Lee” Snedaker, 93, of Greenwood, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016. He was born in Elkhart, on Oct. 24, 1923, to Sylvester and Jolsey Snedaker.

As a child, Lee resided at the Indiana Soldiers and Sailors Children’s Home in Knightstown.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy as a gunner’s mate, serving in both Korea and World War II.

He then worked for Indiana Bell Telephone Company for 41 years and was a member of the Pioneer Club.

In retirement, Lee enjoyed time with his wife, Lucy, participating in bowling, square and round dancing, traveling and being members of numerous dance clubs.

Lee also enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, hunting, fishing and training dogs.

Sylvester is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Lucille Snedaker; daughters, Sharon (Richard) Avery and Cheryl Sims; brother, George Snedaker, sisters, Rosa Miles and Mary Fryer; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Rd. 135, Greenwood. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, also in the mortuary. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
