Man critically injured in Franklin ATV accident

A man driving an ATV was critically injured when he hit a culvert in a Franklin field on Tuesday night.

John Taylor, 48, of Franklin, was in critical but stable condition at Methodist Hospital at Indiana University Health on Monday evening, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources said in a news release.

He did not have a pulse when emergency crews arrived at the accident scene on North Graham Road. His heart stopped twice while he was on a helicopter to Indianapolis, the news release said.

Conservation officers are investigating the cause of the accident, the news release said.

Taylor was riding with a friend, who shouted to Taylor from his own ATV that they were quickly approaching a culvert. Taylor didn’t hear the warning, and fell into the culvert, with the ATV flipping over twice and landing on Taylor, the release said.
