Phillip E. “Ed” Parker Sr.

FRANKLIN

Phillip E. “Ed” Parker Sr., 63, of Franklin, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016, at his residence.

He was born June 20, 1953, to Laurel Parker and Sarah H. (Achors) Parker in Indianapolis.

He married Mona (Mitchell) Parker on Oct. 15, 1982, and she survives.

Other survivors are his mother, Hilda Gahimer of Franklin; three children, Ed Parker Jr. and wife, April, of Shelbyville, Stephanie Clapper and husband, Freddie, of Franklin, and Robert Parker and wife, Leslie, of Franklin; sister, Susan Waters of Greenwood; and six grandchildren, Morgan Parker, Emily Parker, Maegan Clapper, Jaedyn Clapper, Molly Clapper and Hayden Parker.

He was preceded in death by his father; and brother, Charles E. “Chuck” Parker.

Mr. Parker was a lifetime resident of the area.

He graduated from Triton Central High School in 1972.

Mr. Parker was a self-employed drywall finisher for 46 years, and he retired in 2015.

He had attended Lewis Creek Wesleyan Church.

Ed enjoyed drag racing, fishing, hunting and playing poker. He loved his family and grandchildren and loved spending time with them.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, Shelbyville. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Pastor David Gates and Eldon Mitchell officiating.
