Ruthann Hensley

FRANKLIN

Ruthann Hensley, a lifelong resident of Franklin, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016, in Franklin.

She was born on Feb. 14, 1931, in Franklin to Jesse and Esther Mae (Wheeler) Grooms.

Ruthann, a 1950 graduate of Franklin High School married Robert “Bob” Hensley on Aug. 5, 1950. He lovingly survives.

She is also survived by one son, Tom (Sherry) Hensley, and one daughter, Julie (Dave) Eastes; grandchildren, Mark (Jessica) Hensley, Alison (Israel) Henry and Andy (Whitney) Hensley; and great-grandchildren, Tristan (Jasmine) Hensley, Jordan Hensley, Danielle Hensley, Jackson Henry, Parker Henry and Claire Hensley. Also surviving are two sisters, Sue Smith and Norma Anders.

She was preceded in passing by her parents; one sister, Shirley Watson, and one brother, Donnie Grooms.

Ruthann worked for the Morris Dime Store, and later was employed by Farm Bureau Co-Op and at Edward Jones. She and Bob were farm partners together.

She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Franklin.

Although not a member of the Franklin Lions Club, her many years of volunteer efforts with the organization were recognized in 1998 with the Governors Appreciation Award and in 2006 by the presentation of the Melvin Jones Fellow award.

Ruthann also enjoyed years of friendly association as a member of the Chat ‘N Do Johnson County Extension Homemakers. She also served many years at the Johnson County 4-H Fair and worked several years at the election polls.

A memorial service will be held on a later date.

Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home in Franklin is assisting the family with arrangements.
