Man arrested on domestic battery charges

A man was arrested after a woman tried to break out a window in a Greenwood apartment to get away from him, police said.

Jalen L. Young, 21, 7118 Old House Road, Indianapolis, was arrested on two charges of battery, two charges of domestic battery and a charge of intimidation and false reporting.

Greenwood police were called to the 800 block of Kings Mill Road twice on Monday after neighbors reported hearing a disturbance and a woman screaming, according to the police report.

The first time police came to the apartment, a neighbor reported seeing a woman breaking through a glass window. When officers spoke with Young and his girlfriend, they both told him two men had broken into the apartment, and that one of the men broke the window to get out of the apartment, the report said.

Later that evening, police were called to the apartment again for another disturbance. This time, a maintenance worker said he was in the apartment fixing the broken window when Young and his girlfriend began fighting. The worker told police that Young had pushed him to get to the woman, and that the worker had left to call police, the report said.

This time, the girlfriend told police Young had hit her and thrown her around and that no men had broken into the apartment. She had broken the window to try to get away from Young, the report said.

Young was arrested and taken to the Johnson County jail. His bond information was not available Tuesday.
