EVANSVILLE
Francis E. (Gene) Johnson of Evansville, formerly of Franklin, died on Nov. 7, 2016, in Evansville.
Gene was born Jan. 21, 1941, in Franklin, to Virgil and Opal Adams Johnson.
He attended school in Franklin. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving for eight years.
Gene worked in security for Clark Security Co. before retirement.
He is survived by four children, Crist Johnson of Franklin, and Rusty Johnson, Kelly Ahrens and Michelle Kimmerling, all of Indianapolis; and eight grandchildren, Derek Johnson, Josh, Patrick and Amanda Ahrens, Trevor, Tyler and Trey Young, Randy Johnson; and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Susie Davis of Franklin, and Sharon Policastro of Florida; a brother, Wendell Johnson of Washington; two uncles; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
A funeral was held Nov.10 at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin St., in Evansville. Burial was in Campground Cemetery.
