<p>Oakley D. Reed, 93, of Franklin, passed away Monday, Nov. 28, 2016, at Franklin Meadows.</p>
<p>He was born in Liberty, Kentucky, in Casey County, on Sept. 23, 1923, to his parents, James S. and Rosa (Scott) Reed.</p>
<p>Oakley married the late Dolly MacFarland on Nov. 29, 1946.</p>
<p>He proudly served his country, in the U.S. Army Air Forces. He was stationed in the Pacific Theatre, during World War II.</p>
<p>Oakley later retired from Ford Motor Company. He enjoyed antiques, going to auctions and collecting.</p>
<p>Oakley is survived by his wife, Helen (Pettyjohn) Collins Reed of Franklin; his three children, Doris (Les) Fleener of Hustonville, Kentucky, Gary (Barbara) Reed of Whiteland and Dan Reed of Franklin; two brothers, Foster (Velma) Reed of Indianapolis and Harold (Bobbi) Reed of Cincinnati, Ohio; five grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.</p>
<p>He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Dolly MacFarland; three brothers, Otis, Glenn and William Reed; and five sisters, Lola Conaster, Ova Jones, Velma Harris, Sophia Gilmour and Lorraine Deskins.</p>
<p>The family is conducting a funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel, 729 U.S. 31 North, Whiteland. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Whiteland Chapel. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery.</p>
<p>In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, 575 N. Pennsylvania St., Indianapolis, IN 46204.</p>
