Jeffrey A. “Jeff” Smith

RUSHVILLE

Jeffrey A. “Jeff” Smith, 53, of Rushville, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016.

He was born July 6, 1963, in Beech Grove to Barry L. and Deborah K. (Eberg) Smith.

He married Sheila A. (Sadler) Smith on Aug. 27, 1983, in Indianapolis; she survives.

He was a 1981 graduate of Perry Meridian High School.

He had been a crane operator for R.H. Marlin in Indianapolis for 22 years.

He was a member of Operator Engineers Local 103, National Rifle Association and the International Defensive Pistol Association.

He enjoyed boating, shooting his guns and keeping busy working.

He was the crane operator specifically chosen for the Monument Circle renovation. He was a loving and giving person to not only his family but friends and anyone he came into contact with.

Surviving his wife Sheila A. (Sadler) Smith of Rushville; two daughters, Brandi N. Rhone (Mark) and Angela “Kristi” Smith (Joe Abbott), all of Rushville; parents Barry K. and Deborah L. (Eberg) Smith of Indianapolis; brothers James A. Smith and Jack A. Smith (Kim), all of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Wyatt Smith and Baileigh Smith; step-grandchildren, Austin Rhone and Madison Rhone; nephew, Jacob Alex Smith; several cousins and extended family; his canine companion, Tucker, and horse, Zip.

A service will be conducted at noon on Saturday at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 U.S. 31 South (Morton Street) in Franklin. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday st the mortuary.
