Man targeted in homicide

Investigators said the man killed in his Center Grove area home was targeted, and that the killing was not random.

Andrew Perry, 50, was found dead Friday morning in his home at 2954 Cadogan Drive in the Stone Village neighborhood, off Stones Crossing Road, east of State Road 135. Perry’s mother found him on the floor in a pool of blood. The garage door was open, and a door into the home was ajar when the mother arrived, police have said.

An autopsy found Perry had died of blunt force trauma to the head, and the death was a homicide, Johnson County Sheriff Doug Cox said. Cox declined to give more details about what may have caused Perry’s death, or who investigators have spoken to so far.

Deputies were canvassing the neighborhood on Sunday, looking for any residents who had seen anything suspicious. And investigators are also looking for any more homes or nearby businesses with security cameras, Cox said. They have collected video from a nearby gas station and schools, he said.

Investigators have leads they are working, and do not believe the killing was random, such as by a burglar or someone passing by the home, Cox said.

"At this point in time, we don’t think that’s the direction this is going," he said.

Someone targeted Perry, Cox said.

Cox would still warn residents to lock their doors, just as he would any day, but also because of concerns about theft with the holidays approaching, he said.

Investigators are continuing to talk with the people who last saw Perry, Cox said. Perry’s 19-year-old son was not home Thursday night and was staying with relatives, police said.

Anyone with information or who saw anything suspicious near the home or along Stones Crossing Road late Thursday or early Friday is asked to call the sheriff’s office tip line at 317-346-4654.
