Video of attempted break-in at jewelry store

Investigators are looking for the person who tried to break into a jewelry store near Whiteland.

Early Wednesday morning, someone tried to throw a rock through the glass front door of Hoosier Jewelry, located at 1745 E. Whiteland Road.

Surveillance video shows the person, who police said was driving a silver Chevy Blazer with a red front fender, leave and drive by the business three times over the next several minutes, according to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report.

The person comes back to the building, pulls the rock out and tries hitting the door with the rock, but was not able to get inside the building, the report said.

The vehicle leaves, and then drives by the building again about a half hour later. A newspaper carrier also saw the vehicle parked along Whiteland Road around the same time, the report said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office tip line at 317-346-4654.
