Items taken from vehicles overnight

Multiple vehicles were broken into overnight Tuesday in the Center Grove area.

Watches, a purse and an electronic tablet were stolen from three vehicles parked at homes east of State Road 37, near Fairview Road, according to reports from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

One of the three vehicles had been left unlocked while another was broken into with a landscaping block that had been thrown through a passenger door window, the reports said. The thefts were reported in the 5000 block of Tracy Jo Court, the 200 block of Fairfax Lane and the 5000 block of Heckman Way, the reports said.

Five watches valued at $1,200 were stolen from one car, a purse with ID cards and $15 in cash was stolen from another car and a Kindle Fire tablet was stolen from the third car, the report said.

One of the homeowners heard a car door slam shut around 4 a.m. Wednesday. When he opened his garage door, he saw someone inside his car. The person left the scene in a older, darker colored sport-utility vehicle, and the resident followed the vehicle and attempted to write down its license plate number, the report said. However, the license number matched a vehicle which didn’t fit the description of the one used in the thefts, the report said.
