Central Nine Career Center receives grant

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development has awarded Central Nine Career Center with $40,000 to implement new in-demand job skills training programs.

The state awarded nearly $600,000 to 18 schools and education programs across the state for their plans to implement the Governor’s Work Ethic Certificate program.

The grant program was designed to address the skills gap in the state. Grants are awarded to programs to develop and adopt community- and employer-recognized certification programs in communities throughout Indiana.

Employer input is required during the development of a program with the goal of providing high school students with an understanding of the employability skills in-demand by local employers.

The pilot programs will implement programming during the 2017-18 school years.

More information about the program is available at in.gov/dwd/workethic.htm.
