A great big heart to the persons in charge of decorating the courthouse square this year. Our beautiful courthouse and square have never looked more beautiful and festive. Thank you so much.

Hearts to Karlie Lucas, Franklin Community High School class of 2011 for earning her Masters in Occupational Therapy at the University of Indianapolis on Dec. 16. Noteworthy is her perfect attendance for 20.5 years — preschool, K-12 and bachelor’s through master’s degrees. That means that she was in attendance for a total of 3,471 school days with zero days missed. She believed and she achieved — perfection. Outstanding.

Hearts to all of those who honored the life of three-war (World War II, Korea and Vietnam) hero Mr. Robert Hyatt, who died on Christmas Eve. Scott and Mary Swartz and Swartz Funeral Home did an incredible job. The U.S. Marine Corps and American Legion provided an honors ceremony that truly honored this old soldier. Brian Alvey and Sharla Stevens helped coordinate all the military teams. Lastly thanks to everyone who attended or shared his incredible life story. Our social media posts were shared more than 2,000 times in 20 hours!
