Police investigating shooting in Greenwood

Police are investigating after a man was shot outside a Greenwood hotel.

A second man inside the hotel was also shot in the toe, after a shot fired in a second-floor room traveled to the room below, according to the news release from Greenwood police.

Police were called to the extended stay hotel at 1099 Greenwood Springs Drive at 2:20 a.m. Thursday after shots were fired.

A 40-year-old man inside the hotel was shot in the toe when a gun was fired in a second-floor room, with the bullet traveling through the floor and into the ceiling of the room below. The man was treated at the scene, the release said.

A second man, Ishmon Hester, 21, of Anderson, was found outside the hotel with a gunshot wound to his leg.

Police said Hester was in the second-floor hotel room when the gun was fired and ran with three other people, the release said.

Another incident happened outside the hotel, and Hester was shot in the leg, and at least one person fled, the release said.

Police are getting warrants and reviewing surveillance footage. They found a handgun in a trash can outside the hotel, a lockbox, drug paraphernalia and cellphones, the release said.
