<strong>To the editor:</strong>
Rep. Jim Lucas’ attempt to eliminate the licensing of handguns (House Bill 1159) is very Bunker-esque. Archie Bunker’s proposed method of preventing airline hijackings was to give everyone entering a plane a handgun.
The guns would be collected when the flight ended. Like Archie, Rep. Lucas apparently thinks that if everyone has unlimited and unlicensed access to a handgun, we will all be safe. Archie would be proud.
