Police take teens to detention center

Three teenagers were taken to the Johnson County Juvenile Detention Center on Sunday after items were stolen from a car parked in Bargersville.

A witness called police to report three teenagers who appeared to be attempting to break into vehicles at the Bargersville Post Office, 71 E. Harriman Ave., at about 5:30 p.m., a Bargersville Police Department report said.

An officer approached the teens and waited with them by a car, which had its door open and window partially down, and attempted to contact their parents, the report said.

The owner of the car arrived and told police one of the teens was wearing headphones that were his and had been left in the car, the report said. Police searched the teens and found they also had a handgun magazine, shoes and vitamins that were reported stolen from the vehicle, the report said.

The teenage boys, ages 13, 14 and 15, were taken to the juvenile detention center.
