A man was arrested after a pursuit with police in the Center Grove area.
At 4:30 p.m. Friday, sheriff’s deputies saw a vehicle matching the description of a man who Greenwood police said had taken items from Target on State Road 135 and fled, according to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report.
The deputy pulled in front of the vehicle, which was waiting to turn onto State Road 135, and the vehicle began backing away, the report said.
The vehicle backed over a curb, and the driver got out and ran and the deputy chased after him. The deputy used his Taser on the man, who fell to the ground, but still refused to put his hands behind his back. The deputy used the Taser again, and the man cooperated, the report said.
Adrian Patrick Loveday, 39, 109 W. Washington Street, Apt. 2, Morgantown, was arrested on a charge of theft, resisting an officer, possession of paraphernalia, two counts of failure to appear and a warrant from another county.
Loveday asked to be taken to an area hospital to have his cuts bandaged, which the deputy said Loveday had received when he fell, the report said. He was treated and released. Loveday was then taken to the Johnson County jail, where he was held without bond.
