Driver arrested after pedestrian struck

A man was arrested after a pedestrian was struck in a Franklin neighborhood.

Franklin police were called to the 1000 block of Hamilton Avenue just before 7 p.m. Tuesday, where a man had been struck by a vehicle and residents had found him in their yard, according to the police report.

The residents gave police a description of a truck they saw driving away after the man was struck and told police a man and woman in a green car had tried to take the man with them before police arrived. The pedestrian told police a friend had struck him but didn’t mean to, the report said. He was taken to Johnson Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released.

Police found a truck matching the description about 500 feet away in the 800 block of Glendale Drive, which also had damage to the front end and was parked next to a green car, the report said. The residents told police no one had been driving the truck.

Police arrested Timothy B. Ridge, 37, Franklin, on a charge of failure to stop after an accident, resisting law enforcement and possession of a controlled substance.

Officers found prescription pills in Ridge’s pocket. He was also taken to Johnson Memorial Hospital to be checked out after he complained of head pain after police said he resisted them and they took him to the ground, the report said.

Ridge, 883 Glendale Drive, was taken to the Johnson County jail, where he was held on $3,000 bond.
