Greenwood man revived after overdose

A Greenwood man found unresponsive in a vehicle off Interstate 70 was revived after being given a drug to treat narcotic overdoses.

Randy Vermillion, 46, had been driving east on I-70 near Shadeland Avenue and had crashed into a guardrail on the right side of the road just after noon Thursday, an Indiana State Police report said.

Vermillion was found unresponsive and barely breathing in his car, which officers believed were signs of a drug overdose, the report said.

Officers began chest compressions. After those efforts were unsuccessful, Vermillion was given Narcan, a drug used to treat narcotic overdoses and he began breathing on his own, the report said.

Vermillion was taken to Eskenazi Hospital. An update on his condition was not available Friday afternoon.
