Greenwood fire forced apartment evacuation

No one was injured after a fire in a Greenwood apartment complex Monday evening forced the building to be evacuated.

The Greenwood Fire Department put out a fire in an apartment unit on the second floor of a three-story building at Polo Run Apartments at about 7:30 p.m, spokesperson Chad Tatman said.
The fire was contained to one apartment unit in the complex off Fry Road, west of U.S. 31, but other apartments had smoke damage and the apartment below had water damage, he said.

Polo Run Apartments is working to relocate affected residents to hotels or other apartment units, Tatman said.
